HOLISTIC THERAPY FOR THE MOTHERS, THE FATHERS, THE COUPLES, AND MORE

GUIDING YOU TO A PLACE OF EMPOWERMENT & ENRICHMENT

the info

Mind Online works from a holistic lens. What this means is that everything that makes up a person's ability to experience wellness is considered. From nutrition to movement, to traumas and attachment. The way a client's nervous system is functioning can make a huge difference in how they move through their struggles, so learning how to regulate the nervous system is usually always incorporated into the plan for wellness, for couples and individuals.

For couples who are needing to learn how to trust one another again, co-regulation will be important. Learning to build trust through a pattern of consistent reliable behaviours will mean leaning into the discomfort. Sex and intimacy are the bi-product of a relationship where the couple has created a safe emotional, physical and energetic environment. Sex is not something a partner is entitled to, but affection and closeness are needs that most humans require to be met. Sometimes re learning the basics means taking sex off the table completely until the foundations are re built.

You can expect to be challenged, supported and met with empathy and understanding.

Before you book a session it's important to know if your extended health benefits cover Social Work (MSW). Regardless if you're using benefits or not, you will still receive an automatic receipt from the telehealth app with all the information you might need to receive a reimbursement. The other thing I want you to think about before you go ahead and book, is if you're looking for a magic pill, solution or person to “fix” the problem. If this is what you're desperate for, then Mind Online probably isn't the best match. Issues arise over time, and healing also takes time. Unlike some of the assembly line -commercial counselling corporations, Mind Online does not operate as a quick fix to your challenges. That being said, we want to make sure you're also not dependent on counselling, and instead build resiliency in your life, with confidence to move through your challenges more holistically. If you think you’re ready, head to the booking page.

Are you ready to enrich your birth experience, sex life or relationships? Well let's get it on

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SESSION

The first session with Mind Online practitioners will focus on building therapeutic rapport. This may include expanding on answers provided within the intake forms filled out prior to the first session. It can also include talking indirectly or directly about difficult topics, depending on how comfortable the client is with the practitioner. There is almost always clarification of expectations for therapy communicated by all parties in this session.
If a couple chooses to attend the first session together, they are more than welcome to have their own individual sessions with the practitioner if this is something that interests them. If an individual would like their partner to sit in on a few sessions to witness their processing and participate as an observer, this is also something that can be incorporated into the session structure.

Your practitioner may make recommendations to seek out other functional wellness practitioners. This may include; naturopathic doctor, chiropractor, osteopathic practitioner, holistic nutritionist, pelvic floor therapist, embodiment coach and or occupational therapist.

If you haven't been to therapy before, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to participate in therapy. All we ask is that you show up and provide some context to the issues you're experiencing. If you would like to work backwards from the time of the most recent challenging experience, that may be helpful for you, or, you are also welcome to start at your earliest memory of the concern. Some days you might feel as though you are jumping from one challenge to the next, and some days you may find you’re focused on one issue at a time. Both experiences are acceptable.

It's for anyone who wants it. You have to want to be in therapy and be doing it for yourself, not because others told you that you SHOULD, or because it would make someone else happy if you did.

In terms of criteria for Mind online, potential clients who inquire about services, may be referred out. These clients presenting concerns may be things such as addictions, serve psychiatric diagnosis, domestic violence, or any crisis situation that would require immediate and oncall support. Mind online is currently working with adolescents or children.

Therapy isn't a magic pill and does require more work from the client than the therapist. Since the time spent in session is minimal, compared to the time spent not in session, it's important to understand the importance of your commitment to your wellness and yourself.

Many clients come to therapy with the term CBT as the reference for understanding “models” and “approaches”. I can confidently say that I am not a CBT therapist, however, the aspects of CBT that I think of as helpful often get woven into work I do with clients. Other models that I integrate into my practice include Narrative therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Emotion focused couples therapy, Solution focused therapy, and I'm sure a few more depending on what is helpful. The lenses I use to work with clients include being trauma informed, client centered and holistic. The poly vagal theory and integrating neuroscience and neuropsychology are very important when working with clients in nervous system regulation.

Therapeutic alliance is so very important to clients feeling like they are moving forward in their sessions. It's important to me to be transparent in who I am and the life I live outside of my profession. Yes, I am a mother of three, yes I am a traumatic birth survivor, yes I do have strong values rooted in traditional healing practices and traditional use of plant and food medicines. I am a strong believer in body autonomy and making choices about your body and your family that work for you without conforming to social and societal pressures. I am human, I make mistakes many times a day in my own life, and I incorporate lived experience alongside my professional expertise.

The goal in therapy is to work through traumas, and deeper rooted, possibly subconscious issues, to help a client achieve a desired outcome. Therapy involves inspecting the web of interactions within the client's intrapersonal life using evidence based theory.

Coaching clients receive instructions on how to execute the plans designed in collaboration with the practitioner. They may be provided with direction verbally and visually, lecture, explanation, use written, audio, and visual materials for instruction. Coaching may also include evaluating and correcting actions according to how successful the clients are in reaching the objectives and goals desired.

The short answer? No. Currently, there are no practitioners at Mind Online who are trained in EMDR. Does that mean they can't help you? Also NO. There are many types of modalities that can assist a client in processing their traumas. While EMDR is a great modality, it is not the only modality. Talk therapy can help you integrate traumatic event(s) and understand them — which helps you begin the healing process. Your memories of the trauma will stay, but they’ll start to have less power over you and your emotions. Psychodynamic, Somatic, and narrative are only some of the modalities that can assist you in processing and moving through your traumas.
